Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between what you do and a massage?
Mana Muscle Health is a lot more than just a massage! Aside from helping clients with general recovery and soreness from working out, we offer more structural bodywork to especially help those struggling with acute or chronic injuries, pain that limits action or performance, or anyone looking to improve their overall body function and mobility. Our sessions incorporate manual therapies like active release, myofascial work, and IASTM. In addition to the manual therapy, we also use advanced recovery technologies like Normatec compression, Hypervolt Percussion therapy, and more. The goal is always to reduce the pain and get you moving at your optimal level!

I'm not an athlete, can I still benefit from your services?
You do not have to be an athlete in order to benefit from the treatments. In fact, just about anyone can benefit from muscle recovery!
Muscle recovery and bodywork modalities have many benefits like relieving stiff and tired muscles from desk work, being on your feet all day, parenting, or even gardening in your backyard. There are no limits on who can benefit.
-
Do I have to be injured or in pain to seek treatment?
You do not have to be experiencing any pain or injury in order to seek treatment with me. At the same time, don’t wait until you are in pain or injured to get bodywork. Many of my clients love to get worked on as a preventative treatment. Or just simply — because it feels good! Bodywork is a great way to help your body maintain healthy muscle and joint function.
-
How frequently should I have bodywork done?
Truth is - it really depends! Although many clients have experienced significant change and improvement in just one session, some cases with acute injuries or chronic issues will require regular, weekly sessions to help speed up the recovery process before tapering off visits.
Consistency is always key in muscle recovery! The more consistent you stay with the program, the greater the outcomes are going to be.
-
What should I wear for my session?
Athletic wear or anything comfortable that allows for movement and does not restrict your range of motion.
Women should wear comfortable sportsbras that allow access to neck, upper back and shoulder areas.
Shorts should be worn for any sort of lower extremity work.
-
Why can I only request a mobile service?
Traveling with heavy equipment is taxing on my own body. I require discussing specifics regarding location and living space to guarantee me the best parking, easy access and ample working space.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash and Apple Pay are preferred. I also accept all major credit cards through my booking page.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
I will always do my best to accommodate you. Things happen, I understand. Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the day that could have been filled by another client. As such, I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice or do not show will be charged for the full session.
Running late? Late arrivals will be seen for the remainder of their appointment time only. It is my goal to stay on schedule to the best of my abilities.
-
Do you accept insurance?
I do not participate in health insurance.
Some clients ask if they can use their FSA/HSA (Health Savings Account) to pay for sessions. Check with your plan provider for specific details as to what your benefits are and its limits. I can provide detailed receipts for submittal. However, you will have to pay out of pocket, then submit the bill to your HSA plan.
